888 still hopes for takeover

Online gaming firm 888 is still hoping it can secure a takeover by Ladbrokes, denying a report the talks had collapsed.

The firm unveiled strong fourth-quarter sales today, which boosted the shares.

Chief executive Gigi Levy said of the deal: "It's definitely not off the table. There is still interest on both sides."

Income for the three months to December was up 18% to $71 million (£44 million). The shares gained 2.75p to 46.5p, which values 888 at £160 million.
