Agent Provocateur gets an uplift from stay-at-homes

Feeling good: lingerie sales soaring
11 April 2012

Lingerie sales at Agent Provocateur are in great shape thanks to couples opting for cosy nights in to save cash.

Chief executive Garry Hogath today said the luxury retailer was going from "strength to strength" because of the trend, and predicted more growth this year.

Reporting sales up 26% to £20.7 million in the year to 31 March, he added: "It makes women feel good about themselves, and we all need a bit of cheering up at the moment."

The West End-headquartered firm's underlying profits fell to £2.2 million from £2.7 million as it invested in new stores. It has opened 13 branches since its acquisition by private-equity group 3i in November 2007, taking its total to 43, including shops in the US, Hong Kong, Russia and Dubai.
