Numis co-chief executive Alex Ham picked up more money than fellow chief Ross Mitchinson last year after record-breaking sales.

The disparity arose because Ham’s unit earned a larger share of overall revenues last year — £85 million of the £130 million total.

Ham, responsible for the corporate broking and advisory division, earned £1.85 million against £1.35 million for Mitchinson, who leads the equities arm.

Both picked up £350,000 in salary but Ham, 35, got a £1.5 million bonus compared with £1 million for Mitchinson, 39.

The equities arm contributed £45 million, with sales up by 17%.

The duo were chosen to lead the firm after founder Oliver Hemsley stepped down in September 2016.

Last year was a record-breaker for Numis after it raised £3.4 billion for clients including Laird, Forterra and Alfa Financial.

Pre-tax profits rose 18% to £38.3 million and the firm dished out a 12p dividend.

Anders Holch Povlsen, a Danish fashion tycoon who owns a third of Asos, bought an 11.3% stake in the company in October, prompting speculation about a full-blown takeover.
