Amazon opened the doors to its new UK headquarters in Shoreditch today saying it would double the number of staff it has working on research and development in London.

The retail giant is taking all 15 floors of the Principal Place office where staff will have desks that can be adapted for either sitting or standing, depending on your mood.

The new office features rotating art, two large outdoor spaces with views across the capital and a large auditorium for events.

The Shoreditch building will double the number staff working in Amazon’s London Development Centre to 900, with their focus on its Prime video arm.

The roles are on top of 5000 new jobs it has already vowed to create in the UK this year, taking the total employed in the country to 24,000.

Mayor Sadiq Khan said Amazon’s move underlined the continuing attractions of London as the tech capital of Europe.
