Earls Court overhaul takes a big step forward

6 September 2012

Sir Terry Farrell’s £8 billion masterplan for the overhaul of Earls Court looks set to overcome another hurdle next week with proposals likely to win outline planning approval from Hammersmith & Fulham council.

Planning documents on the council’s website show officers have recommended the approval of the scheme, expected to create 12,000 homes, before a planning meeting next week.

“Although this recommendation does not guarantee an approval, we believe it further increases the likelihood of a planning consent in the second half of the year,” Liberum Capital analyst Alison Watson said.

The scheme straddles two boroughs with Kensington & Chelsea likely to hold a similar meeting.

Hammersmith & Fulham gave detailed planning permission in March for the redevelopment of the Seagrave Road car park site for the Earls Court exhibition centre, with more than 800 homes to be built.
