Female directors: City is wary of quotas idea

Investment bankers and hedge fund staff do not believe there should be quotas to boost the number of woman at board level, but only one in 10 believe enough is being done to retain talented women in the City, research published today revealed.

In addition, only 10% of the City workers polled by banking recruiter Astbury Marsden said that financial institutions currently do enough to attract and retain talented women.

The findings come just over a year after a report by former trade minister Lord Davies told corporate Britain that 25% of its directors had to be women by 2015.
