Healthcare: significant cuts in government provision for eldery care has put real strain on company's like Southern Cross
Tom Bawden12 June 2012

Private healthcare group Bupa has hired Evelyn Bourke from insurance group Friends Life to be its new chief financial officer.

Bourke, a former chief commercial officer of Friends Life who was most recently chief executive of the insurer’s heritage division, will take over from acting group finance director Neil Taylor. He took on the role in September after Tom Singer left Bupa for a similar position at InterContinental Hotels Group.

Taylor will return to his previous job as finance and development director for Bupa Care Services once Bourke, whose starting date is yet to be confirmed, has settled into her role.

Bupa’s chief executive, Stuart Fletcher, said: “Evelyn’s finance, risk, actuarial, operations and mergers and acquisitions know-how will be invaluable as we grow Bupa over the coming years.”
