The entrepreneurial niece of shoe tycoon Jimmy Choo is following in his footsteps and planning a flurry of UK shops.

Lucy Choi, whose footwear has been spotted on Girls Aloud members Kimberley Walsh and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, is to open her first shop this summer in Connaught Street in the West End.

Choi is planning to open five outlets by the end of 2016. Until now, her designs have only been stocked within stores such as Fenwick.

“Three years after launching the brand, the demand to open a central London store has increased,” Choi told the Evening Standard.

“It was always my goal to have a standalone store.”

Property agent Colliers International advised on the deal to get Choi into the building which was once used by her uncle, for his own activities outside the core Jimmy Choo business.

Choo — who founded his business with Tamara Mellon — sold his stake in the luxury goods brand in 2001.
