Mothercare closing down sale: Prices reduced dramatically after retailer enters administration

Doomed retailer Mothercare has launched a massive closing down sale with almost everything in store daramtically reduced.

The chain collapsed into administration this week and it is closing all its remaining stores across the UK.

Mothercare announced today that it was commencing a closing down sale to clear its stock ahead of the store closures, although there will be some exceptions to its discounts.

A spokesman said stock levels were high as warehouses are cleared but the company expected some of its more popular ranges may sell out fast.

Mothercare’s website will remain live until further notice and discounts will also be available online.

The spokesman added product warranties or guarantees would remain valid and customers were encouraged to spend any gift cards as soon as possible. However, gift cards will no longer be available to purchase.

He said: “This is a great opportunity for customers to pick up some amazing deals as everything is reduced.

“We’d also like to thank our customers for their historic support of the Mothercare brand.”

Mothercare, which has 79 stories and 2,500 employees, appointed Pricewaterhouse Coopers as administrators earlier this week as it entered administration.
