Recovery boosts 3i’s portfolio value

Private equity group 3i today said the value of its portfolio leapt 15% last year as businesses bounced back from the recession.

Net asset value rose to 321p at the end of March from 279p a year earlier as corporate earnings recovered and the stakes 3i holds were revalued.

Chief executive Michael Queen said: "I am confident we will see outstanding opportunities in the next three years."
