Yell expands mobile selling with Znode

11 April 2012

A firm which sells online "shop-fronts" to small businesses was snapped up by directories giant Yell today for $19.2 million (£12 million).

Znode's technology allows small businesses to sell goods and services through mobile phones, tablet computers and social networking sites such as Facebook. It will form part of Yell's new consumer division, Yell Connect.

Yell's chief executive Mike Pocock, who is presenting a strategic review this week, said Znode would provide "a platform for our digital business and enable us to provide ecommerce solutions to small businesses".

Yell will offer Znode's digital services to its 1.3 million small business customers globally, with the aid of its 6400 strong sales force. Znode was founded in 2007 in Ohio, America, and will continue to be based there. Yell's shares rose 0.6p to 9.4p.
