E-scooters arrived in the capital today, as a rental scheme began in five London boroughs.

The trial was however hit by a delay, as one of the main areas postponed participation until 5 July.

Rules for e-scooters are similar to those for bikes: helmets are recommended, and riding on pavements is illegal.

Will Norman, Sadiq Khan’s walking and cycling commissioner, said: “I don’t know if this will work for London. That is why we are doing the trial. Let’s see what role they can play in reducing our car traffic.”

Friday’s Talking Point: What do you think of calls to scrap the amber travel list?

Most of you seemed to agree that the amber list should be scrapped.

“Peter” said “scrap the lists and allow people to use their own judgement,” while “Whatsupp” agreed: “Scrap all lists, we have nearly all been vaccinated.”

But many of you, including Ally Pearce, Marcus Collinson, and “magsrich69,” wanted to keep the green and red lists in place.
