On the ropes: Harvey Weinstein faces a blizzard of allegations of sexual assault
12 October 2017

It is a damning indictment of Hollywood that the sexual assault allegations against Harvey Weinstein are so widespread.

It seems to have become an acceptable practice in the industry that big-time names feel they have a licence to make inappropriate advances towards colleagues.

That is why I am glad that so many women have come forward and spoken about their experiences. The more people speak out about sexual assault, the more people will feel comfortable about coming forward themselves. Terry Crews, a male actor, bravely spoke out about a separate incident involving another movie executive.

It is simply shocking and unacceptable that so many people have been affected by this. Hollywood has long had issues with ethics, including racism and misogyny, and I hope the Weinstein case will prompt executives to take better care of those in their industry.
