Ricky Gervais has turned down the chance to act in a film with Will Smith - because movie bosses wanted him to play the Hitch star's brother.
The Office creator says the role was one of dozens he has had in America since the comedy won two Golden Globes.
'One of the weirdest things I've ever been asked to consider was a movie where I was supposed to be Will Smith's brother,' he said.
'I truly don't know if they expected me to black up, but I turned it down anyway. It wouldn't have been particularly PC, would it?'
Gervais laughed off the suggestion that he could become a Hollywood icon.
'No chance - I don't mind making an idiot of myself on camera, I can do that till the cows come home,' he added.
'But me being enigmatic or sexy? I truly don't think so. Putz I can do. And I'm not too bad at loser.'
