London film-makers win chance to work on Brad Pitt's zombie movie

10 April 2012

Budding London film-makers will have the chance to work with Brad Pitt when the set of his new zombie movie comes to the capital this month.

Paramount Pictures is inviting youngsters to a key shoot for World War Z to give them a chance to learn alongside the Hollywood production team.

Pitt, 47, has been living in Richmond with his wife Angelina Jolie and their six children during filming for the movie in Cornwall, Scotland and at Pinewood Studios.

Later this month, the set moves to the Heygate Estate in Southwark for a thrilling action sequence which will see Pitt's character chased by hordes of the undead.

The opportunity for fledgling film-makers is thought to be the first of its kind and was organised by Southwark council and Film London, the body that supports and promotes the capital as a movie location. Film London chief executive Adrian Wootton said: "We were talking to Southwark council about this production, and we thought, 'Is there anything else that the film company can do to work with the local community?'

"They came up with the fantastic idea between Paramount Studios and the council. This kind of thing just doesn't really happen - it's unprecedented. They will get the chance to see the real complexity involved in a shoot like this and what really goes on in a multi-million-pound production."

Southwark council will be looking for film students and school children with an interest in movie-making to take part.
