New images released from the forthcoming James Bond film Skyfall show Daniel Craig in action-man mode firing an automatic weapon.

Craig - in his third outing as 007 - is seen caked in sweat and grime as he shoots an all-action scene under Sam Mendes's direction.

The production team are currently filming the 23rd Bond film at Pinewood Studios in the UK, ahead of its release later this year.

He is also seen looking dapper in a fitted suit, prowling a city street with a handgun.

In further new stills, his co-star Naomie Harris is seen poised to shoot through a smashed windscreen, while in another Dame Judi Dench - who returns as M - is seen at her desk while Mendes supervises.

French actress Berenice Marlohe is seen striding through an airport in Shanghai flanked by minders.

Mendes yesterday revealed he had doubts about Craig being cast as James Bond, but was impressed when he saw him on screen.

He said: "I bumped into him after Casino Royale and I was so excited to see him as Bond.

"It was great to watch him come through that and prove the doubters wrong."
