A hilarious new viral hashtag is sweeping Twitter and it’s exactly what Donald Trump would have wanted — or should that be “wouldn’t”?
The US President is facing a backlash after backtracking on comments made during his press conference with Vladimir Putin in Helsinki, in which he claimed he did not see why Russia would have interfered in the 2016 US election.
Trump later told reporters at the Whitehouse: “The sentence should have been, ‘I don’t see any reason why I wouldn’t, or why it wouldn’t be Russia,’” instead of “why it would”.
He also went on to accept the American intelligence agencies' conclusion that Russia interfered in the election.
The President was condemned for siding with Putin over his own security services in the extraordinary press conference earlier this week and the new comments mark a spectacular U-turn.
