A group of musical medics have got together for their seventh annual concert to help torture victims.

The 75-strong Doctors’ Orchestra, led by surgeon and conductor Stephen Brearley, has been rehearsing at the Royal College of Surgeons before taking to the stage at Cadogan Hall tomorrow, March 8, to raise funds for Freedom from Torture.

The orchestra will be joined by cellist Gemma Rosefield to perform works by Brahms, Wagner and Tchaikovsky. Dr Brearley, who is based at Whipps Cross Hospital in Leytonstone, helped set up the group in 2010. The charity runs one of the world’s only purpose-built centres for the treatment of torture victims in north London.
