Virtually famous: Pia Mia

Starting off her career with YouTube home videos, 17-year-old Pia Mia Perez has been signed to major label Interscope this month with a view to making her the next teenypop sensation
28 February 2014

It's almost traditional now for teenagers to start a pop career by uploading endless home videos of themselves singing cover versions to YouTube - blame Justin Bieber. Pia Mia Perez, a 17-year-old from the Pacific Island of Guam, does it with a bit more glitz. She can be seen duetting Adele's Turning Tables with Lionel Richie's daughter Sofia, and doing Drake's Hold On, We're Going Home, in front of Kanye West and Drake himself at the Kardashians' dinner table.

With those LA connections, not to mention traffic-stopping looks, it's no wonder she's been signed to major label Interscope this month with a view to making her the next teenypop sensation. A six-track EP, The Gift, has just come out in the US, but over here we have to settle for just its lead single, the piano ballad Red Love, for the time being. Check it out now before you're sick of hearing about her.
