Best-selling author and film producer Peter James has set his heart on conquering the West End, today calling it a “dream for every writer”.

James, 65, is working on a stage version of his novel Dead Simple, about a man buried in a coffin as a stag night prank by friends — who are then killed in a crash. He recently co-produced the stage adaptation of another of his books, The Perfect Murder, which is on a tour he hopes will finish in Theatreland.

He said: “I think the West End is a dream for every writer. I’ve made 26 movies and nothing has been as happy an experience as co-producing the stage play of The Perfect Murder.”
