Adele’s Oscar-winning 007 hit Skyfall has been named the Nation’s Favourite Bond Song in an ITV special.

Voted for by viewers in a special poll, the show counted down 20 classic Bond tracks, revealing the stories behind the iconic compositions and the films they come from.

While the Shirley Bassey classics placed highly in the list, it was Adele’s instantly iconic 2012 track that took the top spot.

“I had this sort of random phone call one day, which is one of those phone calls you definitely don’t expect to get in your career,” says co-writer and producer Paul Epworth.

“There was really only one thing that you could start with, which was trying to do something that was a bit funereal. It had to be dark and it had to be remorseful, it was a great challenge.”

Jonathan Ross praised the track, saying that it’s “a great song for an incredible movie.”

Even former Bond actor Roger Moore is a fan.

“It achieved the real feeling of Bond – the man of action, the man of mystery,” he says.
