Big Brother only opened its doors on Monday – but one housemate is about to get their marching orders in the first live eviction of the series.

Eight housemates will face the public vote in tonight’s episode after being ‘exiled’ by People’s Housemate Tom Barber.

Arthur Fulford, Chanelle McLeary, Imran and Sukhvinder Javeed, Lotan Carter, Mandy Longworth, Raph Korine and Rebecca Jane all face the chop – but it’s Tom who will have the final say.

The nightclub owner – who was granted power over his fellow housemates – will pick between the two who receive the fewest public votes.

Friday’s episode will also see host Emma Willis reveal the result of the general election to the housemates.

The decision to tell the contestants about the hung parliament outcome has been criticised on social media ahead of Friday night’s programme.

Twitter users have argued that allowing the housemates to receive updates from the outside world defeats the object of the social experiment show.

This series has marked a break from the Big Brother tradition of depriving contestants of contact with the public, as Tom has been given special privileges that have seen him consult viewers on who to put up for elimination.

But unlike ratings rival Love Island, as intended, the new series of Big Brother has been far from free of political debate. So far contestants have come to blows on racism, benefits – and make-up.

And in Friday night’s show the group are set the task of discussing a range of divisive issues including tax on higher earners and Brexit, which sees them struggle to cope with Arthur’s argumentative behaviour.

Elsewhere ‘randy’ Mandy has her eye on Lotan and Kieran, saying: “They are hot! Kieran’s got the nicest lips of any man I’ve ever seen in my life. Lotan’s hilarious, I couldn’t pick, so both. Mummy sandwich!”

Big Brother is on Channel 5 tonight at 9pm.
