Gillian Anderson has said a clip of The Crown cast dancing to Lizzo’s Good As Hell was “never meant to see the light of day”.
The clip was played during Anderson’s appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers.
It shows nearly the entire cast of the popular Netflix series, swinging their hips and sliding across the floor as they dance to Lizzo’s feel good tune while in costume for a funeral scene in The Crown.
Anderson, who plays Margaret Thatcher on the fourth season of The Crown, is seen dancing next to Olivia Colman who plays Queen Elizabeth II, while Tobias Menzies (Prince Philip) can be seen following his co-stars’ moves further back.
Anderson told Seth Meyers that the actors were following Colman.
“Olivia [Colman] apparently does a dance class in the area that she lives with a bunch of friends, on a regular basis,” said Anderson.
“And the last time she did the dance, they had danced to that Lizzo song, and she asked if we would happen to be interested in maybe doing it, and she would video it?
“And then she would just share it only with her friends, the other dancers. So it was never meant to see the light of day.”
Anderson joked that it was “so humiliating”, adding “the look on my face - such delight and shame all at once.”
Fans of the show took to social media to share their delight at seeing the actors dance modern moves while dressed for a funeral scene.
“The cast of The Crown dancing to Lizzo will give you all the serotonin you need,” said one Twitter user.
Another added that the clip had made their day.
