A new trailer for House of Cards season six shows newly sworn-in president Claire Underwood, marking the end of the “reign of the middle-aged white man”.
Wright, played by Claire Underwood, stands as The Leader of the Free World after the death of her husband Frank, played by Kevin Spacey who was axed from the show.
The official trailer for the final series of the Netflix hit firmly consolidates Claire’s position of power as she announces: “Here’s the thing. Whatever Francis told you the last five years? Don’t believe a word of it.
“The reign of the middle-aged white man is over.”
The rest of the trailer shows the powerful President making both friends and enemies, with a voice saying “we have to get this woman out of there” as a shot is fired at the window of Wright’s car.
At the end of the minute-long teaser clip, Wright promises: “It’s going to be different for you and me.”
Production of season six was halted when accusations of sexual misconduct first came to light against Spacey, with the streaming giant soon reducing the number of episodes from 13 to eight.
Two episodes featuring Spacey, 58, as lead were among those to be scrapped in their entirety.
It was later announced that Greg Kinnear and Diane Lane had joined the cast of the popular political drama.
Kinnear, 54, is best known for his roles in Little Miss Sunshine and Green Zone, while Lane starred in Adrian Lyn's film Unfaithful, earning her a multitude of award nominations of the highest honour.
House of Cards: The Final Season will be available on Netflix on Friday 2 November.
