Jennifer Lawrence has joked that she wants her "sense of humour surgically removed" following controversy over the joke she made about Joanna Lumley at the BAFTAs.

Lumley had introduced Lawrence to the stage with a glowing speech, at which point she replied: “That was a bit much but thank you.”

In an interview on Tuesday's Lorraine, the actress said "nobody ever gets [her jokes]".

She told host Kelly: “I’m going to cut out my sense of humour. I’m not going to joke anymore. They never go right. Nobody ever gets it.

“I have a horrible awful sense of humour that I’m just going to cut out. I’m going to have it surgically removed.”

Lawrence previously revealed that she had invited Joanna Lumley to “punch her in the face” after viewers accused her of “throwing shade” at the BAFTAs host.

“I was at the BAFTAs for 15 minutes and I offended England.

“She emails ‘I have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about I don’t go on the internet’,” Lawrence told Lorraine.

Lorraine continues weekdays at 8.30am on ITV.
