Mark Wright has shut down reports Michelle Keegan is gearing up for a stint on Strictly Come Dancing, saying she is “too busy” for the BBC ballroom.

Wright’s wife Keegan was one of many rumoured names expected to star, with odds of 2/1, according to bookmakers.

But after being probed for information on Good Morning Britain he confirmed Strictly would clash with her upcoming work commitments.

Host Ben Shephard asked: “In the paper, they’re getting excited about the new Strictly line up and Mrs Wright is on the list. She’s 2/1 to be going in, is she?”

Wright replied: “Not that I know of, if she’s going to be in some of them grubs in the jungle or dancing on Strictly she’s doing it without telling me.

“I don't think so, she’s busy, she’s got a new show coming up at the end of this year that I’m sure is going to be announced very soon.”

Co-host Ranvir Singh asked: “Would you mind her getting so up close and personal with a lovely dancer?”

Unimpressed by the line of questioning Wright replied: “Oh stop it! Don’t ask silly questions. As long as she’s dancing with me when she gets home that’s all that matters.”

Other names rumoured to be showing off their moves include singers Lee Ryan, Ashley Roberts and Faye Tozer as well as YouTube vlogger Joe Suggs, BBC newsreader Kate Silverton and Capital Breakfast Show presenter Vick Hope who is reportedly the first name to sign up.

Show bosses are said to be struggling to sign up big names thanks to the “Strictly curse” after stars including Louise Redknapp, Ben Cohen and Rachel Riley all ended their relationships months after taking part.

“Strictly has always been a massive draw in the past, but it hasn’t been as easy this year,” a source told The Sun.

“They’ve asked loads of top names, but with people like Louise Redknapp and Ben Cohen in mind, many in relationships are saying no.”
