While the concept of The Jump feels like a bit of a stretch compared to the more conventional likes of Strictly, what other show gives you celebs flinging themselves off mountains?

Last year saw Joey Essex find his true calling as a human missile, and now a whole new batch of stars are ready to take to the slopes.

Here’s what you need to know about Series 3 of The Jump

1) Superman is one of the contestants this year

Well, sort of. Dean Cain, who portrayed Clark Kent in Nineties hit TV show Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, will prove a man can fly – before he hits the ground.

There’s also Girls Aloud singer Sarah Harding, Olympic gold medal winning swimmer Rebecca Adlington, Linford Christie, Louisa Lytton, Beth Tweddle, Brian McFadden, TOWIE’s Arg, Made In Chelsea’s Mark-Francis Vandelli, Tina Hobley, Tamara Beckwith, and Sid Owen.

2) It’s going to be a lot longer this time

While previous series took place over the course of an intensive week, Series 3 is going to be a weekly show starting from Sunday, January 31. Expect plenty of improvement from the competitors over the series as they have more time to practice.

3) There’s a Big Brother element

Not only is the new series taking place over the course of several weeks, but the competitors will also be living together during that time. Yes, it’s Celebrity Big Brother: Ski Lodge Edition.

4) The big Ski Jump has been re-designed

The celebrities that end up at the bottom of the leaderboard will be tackling the all-new Ski Jump, which Channel 4 are promising “would make even Eddie the Eagle quake in his ski boots”. Gulp.

5) Davina McCall is back as presenter

The series is still in the safe hands of the former Big Brother host, who is surely relishing the chance to get an extended stay in the Alps.

Channel 4, Sunday, 7.30pm
