The new late night chat show, displacing the 10pm ITV News, wasn’t instantly embraced by viewers, while first week host David Walliams proved divisive.

But with the series shedding its skin each week and bringing in a new presenter, the second week presented the opportunity of a fresh start for the show.

However, it seems that the start of comedian John Bishop’s run was similarly mixed, with the host and the show coming under fire.

Viewers don't seem to have warmed up to the format, which bundles topical comedy, sketches, and celebrity interviews into a daily half-hour slot.

Bishop’s presenting style was also criticised, with some claiming he ‘shouted’ his lines.

People weren’t keen on his lip-sync to Madonna’s Vogue either – one of Monday night’s comedy segments.

Still, while there was plenty of criticism, some seemed to enjoy what Bishop brought to the ITV show.

The Nightly Show launched last week to 2.8 million overnight viewers, but dropped over 50% of its audience on the second show, with just 1.2 million tuning in.

Bishop’s run continues this week with Martin Kemp guesting on the sofa on Tuesday, while the next presenter is set to be Davina McCall.

Future weeks are set to be hosted by Gordon Ramsay and Mel & Sue.
