London ravers have long reminisced for the good old days.

The sound of old school garage, hip hop and smooth rnb with silky vocals from the golden era of urban music.

Slowly but surely this underground movement has picked up momentum and spread across the capital and now the old school styled event has been brought to the forefront by a group of London based friends.

Ministry Of Sound DJ Martin 2Smoove and young professional Michael Amaning originally planned to put an event together as a small reunion for some of their Keele University friends.

"You know, I just love music and and that old school feeling of being at a house party and getting all your friends together to vibe out" says Michael.

"We wanted to do a party that would capture that feeling and so we contacted all our old uni mates and told them we wanted to do a house party at a club," he added.

The first 'House Party' was a hit and had passers by queuing round the block for entry. The two friends knew they could make it more successful.

London DJ Martin 2Smoove said: "I have been a DJ for a while and I like to think I know what makes a good party.

"I've played all over the world - Dubai, Tokyo, Ibiza - to crowds of thousands but I knew to capture the house party feeling we had to keep it small and that's why we agreed to not host it at a huge venue despite having to turn away about 400 people on the night when we reached capacity."

With such an intimate venue the last party sold out within five days of releasing tickets.

Martin 2Smoove said: "We worked hard to get the right DJ's and the right venue for the last party.

"We had the 'DJ Boys' - DJ Diffusion, JUS:J - and Andy P on duty and we used Annie's Bar in Kentish Town for that house party feel."

Michael added: "One of the things I like most about the 'House Party' is that it's an eclectic crowd.

"We have investment bankers dancing next to music producers, and primary school teachers hanging out with graphic designers."

The next 'House Party' is due Saturday 28 May at the same venue and with the same DJ line up.

Martin 2Smoove added: "We are taking it back to the days when it was hip hop not hip pop - house party style with B.I.G, R.Kelly, Tribe Called Quest and J.Dilla.

"You name it, we got it."
