It is 100 years since the birth of Shakespearean actor Laurence Olivier and the BFI are celebrating his life and contribution to film with a series of screenings.

Throughout an illustrious career, Olivier took on the roles of some of the movie worlds most famous leading men, including Darcy in Pride and Prejudice and Heathcliffe in Wuthering Heights.

The event will show a selection of the actor's many appearances and also feature stage extracts and readings. At the end of the series, the BFI will be unveiling a new statue of him to mark his lifetime of high achievement.
