Wretch 32 to lead Music Potential

Pop Idol: Wretch 32 will be on hand to answer questions about the music industry
5 April 2012

His tracks draw on his experiences growing up among the high rises of Tottenham's Tiverton Estate and Broadwater Farm, the area's most notorious urban sprawl. It is these experiences that make Wretch 32 the perfect Ambassador for Music Potential, a project that aims to give less advantaged young people across London opportunities to follow their dreams.

Rising UK hip hop star Jermaine Scott, aka Wretch 32, has been announced as the face of Music Potential.

Music Potential is a partnership between Choice FM and Barclaycard Unwind. The initiative, run by the radio station's youth project 'I Have a Choice', was set up to offer 16-25 year olds their first step toward a career in the music or radio industry.

The initiative has provided up to 900 young people, particularly those not in education, employment or training, with the chance to explore their talent through free workshops on music production, mixing, film making and vocal skills.

The 45 most talented youngsters will receive an accredited qualification and six finalists will enjoy a week's work experience at Choice FM.

Music Potential culminates in an event at Wembley Arena on July 21 where Wretch 32 will take part in a Q&A session about his route into the music business.

Wretch 32 is currently riding high in the UK charts with his latest single, Unorthodox, a collaboration with fellow rapper Example.
