A fabulous week of feasting

1/2

Not only is May 14 the start of The Fabulous Feast, a week-long celebration of food and drink in St John’s Hill which will include demos, tastings, workshops, talks and classes in restaurants in SW11, but it also sees the brilliant chef Ben Spalding’s return to the kitchen.

Having left Roganic restaurant last month, Spalding is coming to Battersea for one night only to oversee dinner for 50 at Ben's Canteen, the restaurant belonging to another Ben (Walton) whose motto is: “British food, done well”.

First to hit the menu will be white crab, brown crab, grilled cucumber, cloudberries and smoked natural yoghurt and spring chicken poached in salted butter, hazelnuts, onions and juices flavoured with roasted pineapple. For the rest of the week, Ben’s Canteen will be serving potted ham, a beef slider and chips with Eton mess for pudding.

The Fabulous Feast, May 14 - 20, prices depend on venue, stalls open 11am-5pm (stjohnshill.co.uk)

Ben Spalding at Ben’s Canteen (140 St John’s Hill, SW11, benscanteen.com) May 14, £50/four courses. Tickets from wegottickets.com.
