A Bite Out in London - Aqua, Regent Street

1/2
10 April 2012

Here is the lowdown on the glamorous venue...

What to expect
This is an ultra modern addition to central London's restaurant scene. With the entrance more befitting to a club than dining experience this venue is as focused on style as it is food. Its Japanese (Kyoto)/Spanish (Nueva) divide merges two contemporary menu options in a glamorous setting.

Hot Dishes
Aqua Nueva is the northern Spanish section of the restaurant, overseen by acclaimed chef Alberto Hernandez who trained at three Michelin starred restaurant elBulli in Catalonia. Be sure to try the daily market seafood in a crab broth. The Iberian ham is also a popular choice. A tasty vegetarian option is a pastry parcel of sautéed artichokes, garlic and wild mushrooms. The very nature of this cuisine means sharing and mixing is a must.

Aqua Kyoto offers a tasting menu including dishes such as salmon sashimi, seared lobster and sushi. Under executive chef Jordan Sclare, the sunken sushi bar and sumibiyaki charcoal grill bring a slice of Tokyo to the capital.

Drink Up
The extensive drinks menu is to be expected as Aqua is every inch the contemporary bar. Enjoy a pre or post dinner cocktail in the late night bar area Aqua Spirit and a glass of champagne, wine or aperitif with dinner. Also pay a visit to the Liquid Cashmere experience. Situated on the rooftop of the venue it combines hot cocktails, blankets and a breathtaking view.

Ambience
This celebrity hangout is just the place to dress up and spend an evening with friends. Two restaurants, a bar and rooftop terrace make for an eclectic mix of clientele and an inevitable buzz.

Where to find it
On top of the old Dickins & Jones department store building, opposite the Palladium. Extremely close to Oxford Circus tube station.

Cheque Out
Expect to pay around £45 per person for dinner and a drink. Plus, allow for extra drinks in the bar areas.
