Five restaurants to watch The World Cup

World Cup zone: Plateau
10 April 2012

The Mall Tavern
71-73 Palace Gardens Terrace, W8
(020 7229 3374, themalltavern.co.uk)

Re-opened under new management, with Jesse Dunford Wood as chef. Book the private room on the first floor and there's a TV and various "feasting" menus: suckling pig, roast chicken, fishy feast, Sunday roast, £12-£40pp.

Plateau
4th Floor, Canada Place, Canada Square, E14 (020 7715 7100, plateaurestaurant.co.uk)

Arrive early to get a seat in front of the 40in TV as no bookings are taken (and check first as Plateau will not show every game). Draft and bottled beers plus food from the barbecue.

Rotunda Bar & Restaurant
Kings Place, 90 York Way, N1
(020 7014 2840, kingsplace.co.uk)

Arrive before the game, order an organic burger and it will be delivered to your table with half-time drinks. Special offers (only valid during games) include a bucket of five beers for £11 — and anyone booking a table for six or more gets a free "World Cup Platter".

The Cinnamon Club
The Old Westminster Library, 30-32 Great Smith Street, SW1 (020 7222 2555, cinnamonclub.com)

All the main matches will be shown in the bar, with "an exclusive football grazing menu" and a couple of feisty new cocktails on offer.

Le Bouchon Breton
8 Horner Square, Old Spitalfields Market, E1 (08000 191704, lebouchon.co.uk)

This bustling brasserie will be busy for the France games, so book ahead and tuck into smoked salmon, côte de boeuf and mousse au chocolat. £50 per head.
