Five things Fay Maschler ate this week

Our restaurant critic has lunch at Dabbous and meals on wheels from Simon Hopkinson
17 April 2013

1 Skate wing with shrimp butter at the extended, now extra-rollicking Ship in Wandsworth.

2 Luckily for photographer Jason Lowe he got a commission in Japan. Luckily for me I took his place at lunch with Simon Hopkinson at Dabbous, where we marvelled at avocado, pistachio and lemon balm in an osmanthus infusion.

3 I ordered andouillette à la corde (Charcuterie Hardouin) with mustard sauce at Green Man and French Horn, where food and wine follows the long Loire river.

4 Rhubarb and gin jelly with cream from the tiered dessert trolley in the stately dining room of the Athenaeum Club.

5 Meals on wheels from Simon Hopkinson are always a joy. This time Chinese jellied sweet and sour chicken with ginger sauce for supper.
