What's new in the world of restaurants

10 April 2012

Until Fri 18 Jun, carnivores are in for a treat at London's senior restaurant, Rules in Covent Garden. There's a special menu featuring Belted Galloway beef.

Because belties are traditional British slow-growing cattle, the beef is exceptionally good, and Rules source their meat from a traditional hill farm on the North Yorkshire Durham border.

As well as sirloin steaks (£19.95) and braised beef with Guinness (£17.95) the special menu includes cottage pie with Stilton mash (£14.95).

There's another special menu at Tower Bridge Indian, Bengal Clipper. To celebrate the restaurant's 10th birthday they are offering 10 favourite award-winning dishes (with rice) each priced at £10. The offer ends on Sat 3 Jul.

And yet another, at Chapter Two. Trevor Tobin has taken charge of the kitchens at this Blackheath restaurant, and has introduced his first summer menu. Salad of marinated salmon and cucumber with beetroot tortelloni and horseradish foam; then slow roast pork belly à la forestière with spring greens; finally chocolate feuilleteen with honeycomb ice cream. A three-course lunch is £18.50. Dinner two courses, £16.95, and three for £19.95.
