Dance music has been ubiquitous in the charts for a while but little sounds like Chris Malinchak.

The child piano prodigy-turned-house producer from New Jersey makes music that’s light as a feather, with none of the thump and thunder of David Guetta and his ilk.

His single So Good to Me was only beaten to number one by Daft Punk’s Get Lucky last year. It was such a fine tune that even Adele was roused from her usual Twitter silence to declare it “beautiful”.

His follow-up, If U Got It, saw male and female voices taking turns to emote over the softest of keyboard chords, while his latest, this week’s Stranger, is a summery disco number with Rihanna collaborator Mikky Ekko doing his best Michael Jackson impersonation.

He’s doing it live in Oval Space this autumn, where his YouTube figures should result in a packed house.
