Real Betis right-back Emerson sees himself at Barcelona in 2021

Real Betis right-back Emerson says he expects to move to Barcelona in 2021.

Betis and Barca joined forces to sign the defender from Atletico Mineiro in a €12 million deal in January last year and it was originally thought that the Brazilian would link up with the Catalan club in the summer of 2019.

But the 21-year-old has remained at the Benito Villamarin this season and the clubs' current agreement will see him stay in Seville until next summer.

"I can go to Barca in 2021, but until then I'm staying here with Betis," he told Radio Marca.

"First I'll finish this season and then we will talk about my future, about what I do. But I have a contract with Betis, I'm happy at this club, very content, and I want to stay here.

"When the season ends, I will speak to my agent, but in principle, I will stay with Betis [for now]."
