100 jobs go as S&N shuts brewery

MORE than 100 jobs are to go with the closure of Scottish & Newcastle's Tyne Brewery, home to Newcastle Brown Ale.

S&N is to move production to the nearby Federation Brewery at Dunston as part of a £23m acquisition of its owner, the Northern Clubs Federation, a co-operative of working men's clubs.

The company closed its Fountain Brewery in Edinburgh earlier this year.
