3.7m suffering in Somalia famine

The United Nations has declared a famine in southern Bakool and Lower Shabelle in southern Somalia as the worst drought in east Africa for more than half a century affects 10million people.

Across Somalia, 3.7million are in crisis but the UN said aid agencies need greater protection against armed al Qaeda-linked groups to reach a million in need.
