Artist lands creative role in Michelin kitchen

A London artist has been getting a taste of life at a Michelin-starred restaurant.

Tim Head, 66, of Camden, has been awarded an artist’s residency at Pied à Terre in Fitzrovia as part of a project devised by art-loving restaurateur David Moore. Mr Moore, 48, first developed a love of art as a young waiter when he served the Pop Art star Richard Hamilton who became a friend and then an investor in Mr Moore’s own restaurant. He now runs an annual artist-in-residence scheme which awards £10,000 to an artist in return for a show in the restaurant coinciding with next month’s Frieze art fair. Head is creating an installation in the dining area and paintings responding to Hamilton prints in the bar. He also designed new plates. He said he admired the precision of chef Marcus Eaves and his team in presenting the food.
