Tube bosses today boasted how they were cutting delays across the network - as tens of thousands ofcommuters suffered major disruption.

District line commuters had a bad start to the week with services suspended between Earl's Court and Richmond and Ealing Broadway.

There were major delays on the remainder of the line through central London. The line was not fully open until two hours after the scheduled start of service with delays continuing through the morning peak.

The District is the busiest line on the network and used by more than 650,000 passengers a day.
London Underground blamed late finishing of night engineering work at Earl's Court.

There were also delays to Bakerloo line services because of an incident involving a passenger at Baker Street.

The disruption came as Transport for London issued a statement saying how much better Tube performance was this year compared with last.
