Baghdad bomb car on display in war exhibition

12 April 2012

A car salvaged from a bombing in Baghdad which the artist had wanted to place on the Trafalgar Square Fourth Plinth is going on show at the Imperial War Museum.

The plan by Jeremy Deller, pictured, for the plinth was rejected in favour of work by Antony Gormley and Yinka Shonibare. But after being offered a bombed-out vehicle, he took it on a tour of the US last year.

Tomorrow the piece, Baghdad, 5 March 2007, will be unveiled in the main atrium of the museum.
