Bendy bus rebels keep their jobs

Five ticket inspectors suspended for refusing to work on the controversial bendy buses, claiming it was too dangerous, have kept their £30,000-a-year jobs.

The inspectors, who had faced the sack, have instead been issued with a final written warning following disciplinary hearings. Their union, the RMT, had warned of strike action if the inspectors were not reinstated.

Union chiefs said Transport for London had agreed to carry out a risk assessment on the collection of penalty fares on the bendy buses - dubbed "happy buses" because so many people do not buy tickets.
