Bird flu outbreak spreads

A boy of six has become the latest victim to die from bird flu as health experts warned: "Nowhere can consider itself safe."

His death in a Bangkok hospital is the first confirmed from the disease outside Vietnam, where six have died.

All but one of the confirmed victims have been children. It came as Pakistan announced today that it had detected a case in Karachi.

Earlier Indonesia said its chickens had been affected. The disease has also struck in Taiwan, Japan, South Korea and Cambodia.
