Booker contenders flying off the shelf

The shortlist for this year's Man Booker prize is the most popular among readers since the contest began in 1968.

The six novels have sold 37,500 copies - twice as many as last year - since the shortlist was revealed. Julian Barnes's The Sense of an Ending is favourite to win on October 18.
