Boris pulls seven points clear of Ken in latest poll

12 April 2012

A poll today gives Boris Johnson a seven point poll lead over Ken Livingstone in the race for City Hall.

A total of 48 per cent of those questioned by YouGov said they would back him if there was an election tomorrow against 41 per cent for his Labour rival. It overturns a three-point lead held by Mr Livingstone in February.

Fifty 50 per cent of people described Mr Johnson as "charismatic" but only 13 per cent think he is "natural leader" and only a fifth said he was "in touch with the concerns of ordinary people".

By contrast, 37 per cent thought Mr Livingstone was in touch with ordinary people and 18 per cent described him as charismatic.

The Liberal Democrats' delay in picking a candidate is harming their chances. Two per cent said they would back the Lib-Dems.
