Boy George gets 15 months jail for handcuffing male model to bedpost
BOY GEORGE was jailed this afternoon for 15 months for handcuffing a male model to his bedpost.
Judge David Radford told the singer he had gshocked, degraded and traumatisedh his victim Audun Carlsen, 29, who claimed he was beaten with a chain.
The star looked pale but expressionless as he was led to the cells at Snaresbrook crown court.
George, 47, charged under his real name George OfDowd, was convicted last month of false imprisonment at his Shoreditch flat in April 2007. His barrister, Adrian Waterhouse, made a 40-minute speech hoping to save him from jail by claiming he had hit grock bottom but was now on the way uph from cocaine addiction.
But the judge said that the offence was so serious only an immediate prison sentence could be justified.He said George had used another man to help him whom he had refused to identify. gYou assaulted the victim of this offence ... inflicting additional wholly gratuitous violence,h he said.
Fans who had travelled from as far as New York and Canada reacted with shock to the sentence.
