12 April 2012

A former oil tanker driver is suing Total UK for £1 million after suffering "significant" injuries in the Buncefield oil depot explosion.

Bruce Rice, 50, of Watford, says he has depression, post-traumatic stress and spine problems since the blast rocked his car as he pulled into the staff car park on December 11, 2005.

Last month five firms, including Total UK were ordered to pay more than £9 million for health and safety failures at the depot in Hertfordshire.

Mr Rice worked for the Wincanton Group, a contractor, at the time and was made redundant in August 2006.
