Child rapist jailed over 'worst' porn stash ever found by police

An internet paedophile from west London found with the "worst" child porn collection ever recovered by police has been jailed indefinitely.

Convicted child rapist Arthur Morley's sickening collection of pictures and videos included very young children being raped and abused by adults.

The material was so extreme it shocked even the toughest officers in the Met's Paedophile Unit, London's Southwark Crown Court heard.

Morley, who had previous convictions for rape, attempted rape and indecent assault - all against children - and was a registered sex offender, used a false name, a false address and an internet cafe to avoid detection. Despite his precautions he was eventually identified by police and arrested.

Morley, 64, of Greenford, pleaded guilty to 50 counts of distributing, making and possessing hundreds of indecent images of children between January 11 and March 6 this year.

The defendant bowed his head as Judge Peter Testar told him it was clear he posed a "high risk to the public" and that meant the only way to deal with him was to impose an "indeterminate" sentence to protect them.

Judge Testar said: "The court is concerned with indecent images of the most extreme nature, and I mean extreme nature with capitals underlined. The material which has been described in detail by the Crown depicts the most serious abuse of the youngest of children, even babies."

After explaining Morley would have to serve a minimum of two years and two months before he could be considered for parole, the judge added he will never be allowed to work with children for the rest of his life. He will also remain on the sex offenders' register for life.

Outside court, case officer Jason Tunn said: "These include some of the most distressing images of child abuse we have come across in the Paedophile Unit. The emotional and physical damage these victims have had to endure at such a young age is immeasurable."
